Applications of Vacuum Insulation Technology

Vacuum insulation wins wherever space, weight or energy is expensive. These are the four industries where our panels, coolers and glass are deployed at scale.

Home appliances & refrigeration

A 10–20 mm VIP replaces 50–100 mm of polyurethane foam in refrigerator and freezer cabinets. Manufacturers gain up to 20% interior volume in the same external footprint and reach top energy-efficiency classes. VIPs are also used in wine cabinets, water heaters, vending machines and commercial display cases.

Pharmaceutical & food cold chain

Passive VIP shippers hold +2…+8 °C for up to 120 hours without external power — enough for intercontinental lanes including customs buffer. Applications range from vaccine and biologics distribution to meal-kit and seafood delivery, with reusable systems cutting cost per shipment.

Construction & building retrofit

In facades, terraces, and interior insulation, VIPs achieve passive-house wall values in 2–3 cm instead of 20–30 cm — critical where floor area is money. Vacuum insulating glass upgrades existing window frames to U ≤ 0.45 W/(m²·K), the standard route for heritage renovation programs.

Cold storage & refrigerated transport

Reefer bodies, cold-room panels and refrigerated containers use VIP composite panels to increase cargo volume and reduce refrigeration energy. Freezer doors built with VIG stay condensation-free without heater wires, cutting supermarket energy consumption.
