Frequently Asked Questions

Direct answers from our engineering and export teams — covering products, performance data, ordering and logistics.

Do you sell to distributors and OEMs or only to end customers?

Both. Most of our volume ships under OEM/ODM programs to appliance brands, cold-chain packers and building-material distributors. Private labeling, custom packaging and long-term supply agreements are standard practice.

Which trade terms and ports do you work with?

Standard quotations are FOB Xiamen or CIF destination port; EXW and DDP are possible on request. Our operations center sits in Xiamen, one of China’s largest container ports, which keeps inland logistics short.

Can you send samples before a production order?

Yes. Standard-size samples of VIP panels, cooler boxes and vacuum glass are available; custom-size samples are quoted after drawing review and are typically credited against the first production order.

How do you assure quality on volume orders?

Every panel is 100% tested for internal vacuum before shipment, with batch-level thermal conductivity testing in our own lab. As a STAR-Market-listed company, our quality system and production capacity are audited and publicly documented.

What is the thermal conductivity of a vacuum insulation panel?

Supertech VIPs achieve a center-of-panel thermal conductivity of 1.5–3.0 mW/(m·K) at 25 °C depending on core material and barrier film class. For comparison, polyurethane foam is typically 20–25 mW/(m·K) and EPS 33–38 mW/(m·K), so a VIP insulates roughly 5–10 times better at the same thickness.

How long do vacuum insulation panels last?

Service life depends on the barrier film and operating conditions. Appliance-grade panels are typically designed for 10–15 years, while panels with high-barrier laminate films used in construction are designed for 25 years or more. A built-in getter continuously adsorbs residual gas and moisture to keep the internal vacuum stable.

Can VIPs be cut on site?

No. Cutting the envelope destroys the vacuum and the panel reverts to the conductivity of its core (still a usable ~20 mW/(m·K) for fumed silica, but far from vacuum performance). Panels are therefore supplied cut-to-size from the factory, and layouts are engineered with matching filler panels for site tolerances.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?

MOQ and lead time depend on panel size and film selection. Standard appliance sizes ship from stock programs; custom sizes typically run 2–4 weeks after drawing approval. Send your drawings for a same-week quotation.

How long can a vacuum insulated cooler keep +2…+8 °C?

Depending on box volume, PCM loading and the ambient profile, Supertech vacuum insulated shippers hold +2…+8 °C for 72 to 120 hours. A 50 L parcel shipper with a full PCM set typically qualifies for 96 h against an ISTA-7D-style summer profile.

What is the advantage over EPS or PU foam boxes?

VIP walls conduct 5–10× less heat than foam. In practice that means multi-day holding instead of 24–48 h, roughly 40% more payload volume in the same external size, and lower dimensional-weight freight cost per unit shipped.

Are the coolers reusable?

Yes. The outer shell, VIP wall set and PCM packs are separable components. Worn parts can be replaced individually, which makes the system suitable for closed-loop or rental cold-chain programs and significantly lowers cost per shipment.

Can you build a custom size for our product?

Yes. We regularly develop custom shippers around a customer’s secondary packaging — send payload dimensions, required holding time and lane profile, and our engineers will propose a validated configuration with test data.

What is the U-value of vacuum insulating glass?

Supertech VIG achieves a center-of-glass U-value of ≤ 0.45 W/(m²·K). Standard double glazing is typically 2.6–2.8, argon-filled Low-E double glazing around 1.1–1.3, and triple glazing 0.5–0.8 W/(m²·K). VIG therefore matches or beats triple glazing in a unit of roughly one quarter the thickness.

How is the vacuum maintained over the life of the glass?

The edge is hermetically sealed with a lead-free alloy solder — not an organic sealant that ages — and the unit contains a high-efficiency getter that adsorbs any residual gas molecules. Production without a pump-out port removes the most common leak path of early VIG designs.

Can VIG replace single glass in old window frames?

Usually yes. At about 8.3 mm and one third of triple glazing’s weight, VIG fits most existing rebates for single or thin double glass, which makes it the standard solution for heritage retrofit projects where frames must be preserved.

Is vacuum insulating glass safe?

Supertech VIG uses fully tempered safety glass for both panes, and the pillar array between the panes is designed to carry atmospheric pressure permanently. Units are produced without an evacuation stem, so there is no protruding weak point on the surface.
